Street-62 is waiting for you!

October 10th, 2019
Thank you to everyone who participated on street-61, and in particular to Rob Wareham (@barrowlane) for hosting it and a big thank you for all who voted for my sad couple in Venice. It was a great pleasure to become a finalist and even a greater pleasure to be chosen among so many good competitors! I really enjoy street photography and therefore this challenge is one of my favourite.

If you too like street photography enter the competition!

Here are some links/article provided by others who've hosted before me... hopefully, they'll help you get started...

I am a little disappointed that this challenge has not been run from the date the previous one concluded. I appreciate this has been discussed before.

I’m sorry if I have not followed the rules (which I didn’t know-my fault). However the previous challenge ended on September 25th, 15 days ago. So should I have written that the photo for street-62 had to have been taken between September 25 and November 3? Are our 365-ers friends expected to have already a street photo in the drawer? Please let me know and I’ll be happy to modify the dates of the call. Btw, where should this discussion be posted for let as many people as possible to be able to read it and participate? Thank you Caterina

@caterina for me I prefer it to start when you post the new challenge makes more sense. Just my opinion.

@caterina I was one of those who was frustrated by often having taken a street picture that would have been a good entry on a day when the challenge wasn't open. Most of the time though this was a one or two day gap (including the one day a week I'm always out and about). With such a long gap I agree that it makes more sense to start the challenge the day you post.

@caterina @rjb71 @spanishliz @lumpiniman Sorry! This is down to my tardy running of the competition and nothing to do with Caterina. All I can say in my defence is that I have a job and a family and other responsibilities. It is not always possible to devote the time to do the things you should. But there obviously has to be time for people to vote on the competition and perhaps I should have put an end date to the voting and got to announcing the winner that same day. But I would say that competition tend to have a start and end date and if it happens to not fit in with that amazing shot you got in the days before it started then it is a shame but it should give you the insentive to go out and get another amazing photo that fits the date range.
People should be careful being critical of the way these are run as I know of a lot of people won't enter because of the trepidation of winning and then having to run it. Especially under this type of scrutiny. Lesson learne here by me I think. Once again Sorry for not coming up to scratch!

@barrowlane I never meant to be super-critical of anyone, Rob. I was simply voicing my opinion, which a number of other people shared at the time. It isn't always possible for me to "go out and get another" shot and I imagine the same goes for others here too, and it upsets me somewhat to be told to do that.

@barrowlane

No criticism was intended by me. I merely expressed a little disappointment that the challenge was not running from the closing date of the previous one; I accept that would not be possible when the criteria for each challenge changes on each challenge, however this does not apply in the Street Photography Challenge. Street photography is very much a case of being in the right place at the right time for that unique shot.
