Full Moon 9/12/11

December 9th, 2011
I've seen a few full moon shots tonight, and they're all actually quite different!

Isn't it amazing how something that so many of us can see at roughly the same time can produce a different final image. How about we collate them here?

I was a bit disappointed with the 3D-ness of my craters this time...

I hadn't realised it was a full moon. That has to be good on my birthday :oD

Over here where we write today's date as12/9/11, we don't have a moon yet! I hope it's not cloudy tonight :))

i got a picture of it last night. looked pretty full. but probably not quite all the way.

@lluniau : Hihi, what a jolly moon ;).
This is my take on the full moon:

Full Lunar Eclipse tonight. Might be worth letting the camera stay up late today!
December 9th, 2011
Well capturing the full moon was a bit of a coincidence really, I was more interested in the sea as it was a bit rough today.

@pete21 Technically not a full moon until 14.36 UTC (GMT) on 10.12.11 but close enough tonight not to be pedantic about it. Oops, too late lol.
December 9th, 2011
@sburbidge Lol, btw wasn't GMT invented before UTC double lol,
December 9th, 2011
@moirab great! Happy birthday! X
December 9th, 2011
@sdpace ah yea, I keep forgetting that. I'll try and remember to write the month out in full next time, then no one gets confused! Still no clouds here, but eyes are a little fuzzy! ;)
December 9th, 2011
How very cool @jannaellen I get jealous of you and your toy story guys every time I see them! I must adopt a similar "group". I promise not to copy you and go for Woody et al! X
December 9th, 2011
@bobfoto I checked that out and found we'd only see a partial here, and that at 3pm, so unlikely to be spectacular... :(
December 9th, 2011
Rough?! @pete21 You're telling me! Brilliant!
December 9th, 2011
@sburbidge UTC? What on earth (or moon) is that?! Anyways...it'll be daylight here by then...and not as much fun...and the woman on BBC news said it'd be full tonight...I've checked, and you're right...(I shall never trust her again).

Although, I'm not sure how this is possible, but it looked pretty full at 5pm (when I took the shot) but now (11pm) it looks as if it has a slice missing...

Either way it's a lovely clear night, and the moon is superbright.

@foolmoon where are you?...any answers?!
December 10th, 2011
@lluniau You might be seeing the beginning of the eclipse if it looks like a piece is missing!
December 10th, 2011
@lluniau - we will get the full eclipse for around 3 hours between midnight and 3am. Hopefully no cloud cover, which is forecast to be a cloudy night! :(
December 10th, 2011
@bobfoto Did you manage?!
December 10th, 2011
December 10th, 2011
@grammyn Nah...I don't think so - quite a bit too early. I blame the cocktails ;o)
December 10th, 2011
@lluniau LOL!
December 10th, 2011
There was so much haze in our sky that I really didn't like either of mine
Here's one...........

....and the other

December 10th, 2011
@lluniau - nope, it was very cloudy. I did get to see the eclipse but no photos :( Maybe next time in 2014???
December 11th, 2011
