Thank you, guys :-) @hamble I did some work in Picasa, cropping and sharpening, then Lester talked me through what to do to de-focus the background using Paint.net which is free to download. Lester says it's very user-friendly. @natsnell I remember we had lots of pansies in the garden at my parents' house and they spread themselves round the garden more each year and came up with new colours, too. When I was a kid I loved seeing what happened. Still do.
I grew some pansies from seed last year and they have come out again this year already. My first real success at growing flowers.
