Tuesday. I'd planned to go to Butterfly World near St.Albans this week and scheduled my trip for today in order to catch up with a couple of 365 chums and meet other members of their photography group. We all had a great time taking photos of the wonderful butterflies in the butterfly house there.
I sat down for a bit of a breather (it was very hot and humid) and left-hand Blue Morpho butterfly came and sat on my knee. Right-hand B.M. butterfly tried to join him but didn't stay for very long. Left-hand B.M. stuck around for ages and ages (the best part of a quarter of an hour!), even when I stood up and walked around. I had to get my finger under his feet and persuade him to leave eventually. That was interesting, I could feel the rough bits of his feet that help him to hang onto things. You can see he has a damaged wing. He could still fly but not as well as the others, which may have explained his reluctance to move.
You can see a Blue Morpho with its wings properly opened here : http://365project.org/dulciknit/on-the-day-extr/2012-06-26
The colour of the wings is gorgeous.
