The Lock by eudora

The Lock

Looks a little grim, but actually a pleasant place with an interesting history. The Plaquemine lock, completed in 1909, linked the Mississippi River and Bayou Plaquemine. It closed in 1961 when a longer lock several miles upriver replaced it.

Shot with a Pentax K1000, 50 mm lens, Fujifilm

I want to thank everyone for your support, kind comments and favs of my recent photo. It means so much!

Very cool. Do they use it for anything at all today? Obviously it has a hole towards the top.
