My husband and I drove over to White Castle, Louisiana for some photos of Bayou Goula and the Cora Texas Sugar Mill. Both batteries on my regular camera were dead, even though one had just come off the charger. Not to worry--I'd brought my Pentax K1000 film camera and my compact digital. This isn't the photo I planned, but once again, it's what I have. Waiting for the film to be developed....
I think you Powershot rose to the occasion. That's what I use and although it isn't good for everything, it does handle landscape shots pretty well. All that steam makes me think production is going full speed ahead. Good shot.
I never knew how dangerous those sugar mills are! Until I started hearing of them exploding and burning down. That is a big "Pipe thing" there at the base of the building. Is it a pipe? or a Quonset hut type building like in the military?
I love this picture for all the different color and shapes of steam. not too familiar with sugar mills or any other industry while living in a small town.
