A few days ago I found a small egg shell on the front porch. Our granddaughter laughingly told my husband it might be a snake egg. He is terrified of snakes, so I looked it up and found that it was the egg of a purple finch. Today I found this nest with similar eggs in a hanging fern. We are watering the fern VERY carefully so not to disturb the eggs. I hope they hatch!
