Lower Midcity, New Orleans. A photo from 2014, reedited.
Don't get me started on this neighborhood. . . . Briefly, it flooded after Katrina and was recovering when politics intervened. When it gets a LITTLE cooler (say, 88 degrees instead of 98!) I plan to go back and see how this neighborhood is doing. A huge new medical center has been built nearby.
I remember reading about shot gun houses in Americana magazine back in the 80's and thinking they were an architectural delight. I hope this neighborhood has survived and the people relied on themselves rather than the government to put it back in order- Nashville did it, so can they!
