Casino Blues

Robert Dafford's ten-story painting of a harmonica on the Belle of Baton Rouge casino's parking garage.

I've never been to the casino and didn't pay much attention to its planned expansion. Then I started getting emails from preservation groups about the company's proposed demolition of a 100-year-old building to make room for a parking lot. Enough people objected that the company withdrew its request. The Maritime II Building will remain--a win for historic preservation, but the building still needs extensive renovations.

Cool find

That must have been something to paint! But the effort was worth it. Nicely captured.

@margonaut How neat! In New Orleans, different artists are painting murals on the wall along Tchoupitoulas St. It adds some beauty to a pretty gritty area.
