Um...I'm still trying to get my day started...but I don't know what to wear.
Today is opening day at Yankee Stadium. I love, love, love the baseball season. When my husband and I first started hanging out, I told him that I liked baseball. He didn't really get the depth of it until playoff season came around and he was finally all, "Wow, you really are into this."
What part of "I like baseball" did he not get? Actually, I really do know a lot about baseball and often surprise people with my knowledge and memory of great games in the course of my life. Although my fave team is the Yankees, I'll watch any baseball game if my team is not on. Even the Mets. Or the Red Sox. My father in law is a Red Sox fan (from Massachusetts) so...it makes for interesting discussions come baseball season. But it's all good, we enjoy the banter.
A year into dating my husband (then my boyfriend), it was 2004 and he rooted AGAINST my Yankees. Let's not talk about that 2004 ALCS...In my mind, I like to replay Aaron Boone's homerun in the 2003 ALCS, thank you very much. Anyway, I told him it boiled my blood that he rooted against my team. I also told him if he openly chose to root for the Sox or against my Yankees, I'd never put out for him again. Actually, I'm kidding about the last part...but I was kinda sorta thinking it. Is that bad? I did, however, tell him that it "boiled my blood." The first and last time I've ever used that phrase. Who talks like that? lol.
Wow. A lot to take in here. Where to start? First, Smoldering pic ;) Second. I kinda have crushes on women that love baseball. It's my favorite sport, and I am a huge Mets fan. I never understood the whole having to choose between the Mets and Yankees. I'm a New York Guy. I root for all of our teams with one exception....The Islanders. Hate 'em. For the record, I can't stand the Red Sox or any teams from Boston or Philly.
@adamj thanks for the comment on the pic. As for baseball, I really used to be obsessed with it. When i changed careers a few years ago, i considered trying to work for MLB. but i chose otherwise. The Mets open today too, right? I haven't been to Citifield yet but hope to go. I have no hate for the Mets. The rivalry Btwn the Yankees and the Mets hasn't been like it used to be. I don't think I could take the stress of another subway series though. Although, could be exciting too.
@snaphappy1 lol whippersnapper. Maybe I should've made that my username. Well...we've got 161 more games this season. Sabathia just didn't have it today.
