When I lived in the heart of Manhattan, my commute consisted of a 15 minute subway ride on the 2 going uptown. Now that I've moved out of the city, I take Metro North. It's been 6 months now that I've gotten used to the trip and it's longer than 3 times my previous commute. I don't mind it though.
If you calculated the time I've spent on subways, the NJ Transit, The LIRR, and now Metro North, it would probably amount up to years.
Anyone who commutes notices regular patterns of their fellow commuters. Normally on my ride home, I do not sit down but, rather, stand in the vestibule between the cars so it facilitates getting off the train. Usually, there are the same people in the vestibule with me.
To illustrate...to the left of me is a guy I've nicknamed Scott Speedman because he kinda looks like him and is kinda cute. The guy to the right of me is just a nice dude who has engaged in friendly convo with me. Don't think he's fashionably challenged because he's wearing shorts and socks and shoes -- I believe that's part of a work uniform. I'm standing there...listening to my iPod. See me in my dress? See the cord dangling there from my headphones? I was actually listening to music.
Anyway...just like my "Subway Stories", I have many commuter train stories coming up...this is just an introduction lol.
The train conductor who collects the tickets calls me camera girl...because he always sees me snapping photos of the Hudson out the window. Once he helped me choose my pic for the day lol. He is a nice gentleman that often offers to find me a seat on the train, although I refuse. What a guy.
Oh!
If anyone knows what I'm referencing when I say, "Commutin', ain't easy", I'll give you a prize.
Sweeeeeet socks on "nice guy" (I know I know it's a uni). Cool pic! And I know exactly what dress you are wearing - hahah. Ummm. Commutin ain't easy. Hmmm. Well in my head I'm singing it to the tune of Pimpin Ain't Easy. Is that it? Tell me it's that!
@snaphappy1 Girl, I knew you would not disappoint. I knew you would know what song it was. Lol. And yes you know the dress. It's one of my summer essentials!
Love the socks on nice guy. Haha the other day I had an awkward convo with him that just kinda...died. Lol...he was, "Oh so you live in _______?" Me: "Yeah...you?" Him: "Yeah..." Me: "Nice place..." Him: NOTHING.

Talk about your awkward silences.
