It's a shitty, rainy day in the Big Apple.

Trapped inside.

iPhoning it in for the second time in a row.

So I'm having one of those kind days when... Well, I don't know really how to describe it other than just kinda crappy. This sucky weather doesn't help.

First... Some lady fell behind me as we were walking down the stairs in the train station almost knocking me the fuck out. That was scary. I could have really hurt myself. Thankfully she wasn't too hurt. Her ego was probably bruised more than anything else but she did come down hard and fast and knocked into my legs sending me forward. I hung on to the railing. Thank god.

Second... I found myself annoyed after a conversation with someone who doesn't know me all that well. He asked a valid question that was pertinent to the topic we were discussing. I say it was a valid question because he doesn't know me.

He asked, "Can you be funny?"

I don't know why, but that question annoyed THE SHIT out of me. Mainly because...if you have to ask that question of someone, chances are you don't think they've got a sense of humor. Granted...he doesn't know me but still... And the other reason that I found it annoying is because I think he and I have different ideas of what's funny.

I wouldn't say I'm funny in the way that someone tells jokes and is always silly. BUT I can point out funny things and laugh at them and find humor in the mundane. Takes talent, people. And I like to think I have pretty fucking awesome sense of humor and sarcasm.

Would hate to think I give off the impression that I'm a stick in the mud. That's what bothers me.

For the most part, I don't usually care what kind of first impression I give off because the ones who are really interested and invested stick around and get to know all the sides of me. But it's interesting...

First impressions of me have run the gamut from stuck-up bitchy girl to shy girl to friendly, outgoing girl. I guess it depends on the day because I can be all of those.

But back to being funny...

If you could choose between being the best-looking person at a party or the funniest...who would you choose?

I think I might choose funny. Beauty is subjective. People will eventually forget how you look but they are less likely to forget how you made them feel. And if I can make someone laugh...well, I would rather do that.
Nice processing. I think you have a great sense of humor :)

@islandk8 thank you! At least someone doesn't think I'm humorless. Lol.

I like this image, good use of lines, and a nice impressionist feel.

@jean_willis thank you, Jean. :)

Great capture again and so love your extended narrative. I seem to spend a lot of time reading. I'm told I have no sense of FUN so I'm not in a position to judge.

I think you're hilarious. And I would choose funny. If I meet a "beautiful person" at a party, or in life, who is not funny or even the least bit entertaining, I might as well drink Zima instead of a rich Cabernet. Don't be a Zima. Rock on, Ms. T.

@tonydebont thanks Tony! Appreciate your kind words and the fact that you read mine :)

@lizzyjane66 Elizabeth, you rock! Love your comment and analogy. Thank you :)

Great shot! I would choose funny every time, people remember other people with a sense of humor & you have a good one :)

That guy's a d-bag, trust me. Humor is definitely subjective. I USED TO have a friend who would cringe any time I made a sarcastic comment because she was WAY too nice. On the other hand is my ex, whose sarcasm was applied to everything, and in what you quickly realized was a mean way. I think you have a good sense of humor. And I'd take that any day over being beautiful ...... not that I realy have a choice. LOL

@andyn thanks, Andrew! :)

@carolb humor is definitely subjective. I think sarcasm can work well in humor when it's used properly. And, thanks! I'd like to think I have a sense of humor and can appreciate that about others.

I don't even have to think about this. No question I rather be the beautiful person rather than the funniest. I just had this discussion with my friend "J". We spent some time on why that would be important. Tough story and very cool pic.

@adamj interesting answer, Adam. Whenever I've asked this question to people, I get equal responses for both. The question sorta implies that to be funny, you may not be beautiful or vice versa. But I guess the question begs the larger question of...what makes someone beautiful? To me...it's not what's only on the outside.

Cool photo... And good words, too. I'd much rather be the funniest person. Humor will get you through the tough times and good looks... they fade away.

@jbc2013 thanks and I agree with you too. Humor gets you through tough times. :)
