Bisous

Dedicated to New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter. He turns 39 today. Sometimes it's hard to believe he's only 2 years older than me. He's had so much success. But...success is all relative, I guess.

A fact that I'm not sure I'm proud to admit:

I celebrated Derek Jeter's 25th birthday "with" him back in the day. What a weird experience that was. My best friend, @snaphappy1, and I actually spent money for tix to go to his party. But, eh, that's what you do when you're 23 and have money to burn on going out and whatnot. Would never do that now.

The party was at a club...in Times Square of all places. Ugh. At the World Nightclub. And Bad Boy Entertainment was all up in the place.

There were a lot of baseball groupies there. And the women were there just to ogle DJ. Seriously. There was this girl standing next to us who was literally STARING at him for three hours. Didn't drink, didn't talk to anyone else. Just STARED. We'd gotten a nice place to situate ourselves where we were just 15 feet away from DJ and his crew. My best friend made her presence very known to him lol.

I went to be able to say that I went to his 25th birthday and basically just to see what other Yankees would show up. I suppose this makes me also sound like a baseball groupie. Truth be told, I have more a weakness for musicians actually...as I've had exes who were musicians and my husband is one kick ass musician. Especially if they're 'geeky' about their music (read: really into it), then I'm ALL over that.

Anyhoo, I digress...Happy Birthday to DJ. Can never forget all those clutch plays he's made. The flip, the catch, etc. etc. He will always be loved in NYC.

Now if my Yankees would just get their act together...

Oh, I meant to chime in here...what's up with the "Captain" having his party at a public club where strangers are invited to come pay to play?

@adamj i dunno. I'm the sucker that paid for it though lol. To be fair though...there was probably a cover charge to get into the club on any day of the week. I am sure for his party, they jacked up the prices at the door and for drinks.
