355 West 16th Street

This is the Dream Downtown. Meatpacking District. The rooftop bar is very nice. I recommend it.

One of the best things about living in NYC for my late teen years and twenties was going out and enjoying the nightlife.

Have you had your 15 minutes (or is it 15 seconds?) of fame? I believe I have. Sorta. Once when I was 21, a boyfriend of mine was having an album release party for his band. The party was held at some club. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of it now. It probably has come and gone but it was trendy, much like the Dream Downtown is today. (This is where Lindsay Lohan allegedly ran over or into or hit a person in her SUV outside of the bar.) Wtf. lol..?

Anyway, back to the album release party... It was back during the time when NYC bars and lounges were into having beds at nightclubs.

Yes, beds. Yeah, bad idea. But it happened.

I remember some media was there. And one photog from the New York Daily News wanted to snap a picture of a few of us, drinking, on one of the beds. I was in said picture and it appeared in the New York Daily News the next day.

I believe the caption read something to the effect of, "Bar revelers enjoy drinks in bed." haha.

Unfortunately, my ex boyfriend's band never got any press coverage for the event as the story that accompanied the photo was about the trend of NYC nightlife during that time.

I think I still might have that newspaper clipping. But it was back in 1997 and it's faded. But I'm in there. Along with @snaphappy1 who...I don't think was even 21 at the time. Oopsies.

In other news, it's almost 40 degrees cooler than it was last Thursday. It's in the 60s. What's up with that???
LOL! Love the story and the view and once again i am reminiscing of years long gone by.

@sunshinephoto5 @anzere03 @tonydebont @amandal thanks for checking it out guys! And if anyone was curious...that ex boyfriend's band is still in existence and they do alright for themselves. Have been on to tour in Europe and Japan but mostly are local to the NYC scene and I still enjoy their music. :)

It was Jet 19! And yes, I have the NY Post clipping framed. Dated April 16, 1998 in the "Big City" section. Holy sh*t. Memories. I'm fairly certain Jet 19 was the pioneer of the beds in clubs thing - well before Duvet and Bed and all the others. Neat pic! I've always loved the architecture in that neighborhood. Didnt we celebrate a birthday there a year or so ago?

And you're right I wasn't 21. You may have been the only one in that pic who was. Maybe you and JJL. IF you remember who I mean? Lololol.

@snaphappy1 lol! Jet 19. Now I remember. Shit. I didn't realize that you had the newspaper clipping. My memory is failing haha. It was the NY Post and 1998. Wow. And JJL was in it too. I think one of the band members in the pic had just turned 21.

@snaphappy1 and yes two years ago we celebrated a bday at dream downtown on the rooftop :). Was fun. Need to do it again.

@snaphappy1 hey I also remember all of us being put into limos after Jet 19 to go to the venue where the band was performing, also called Jet. I remember the invite said something like jet setting or going from Jet to Jet. How silly were those days!
