In the summertime, NYC smells like a fucking toilet bowl sometimes. And that's being kind.
Although I love love love New York, there are things I could do without -- the ridiculous price of things (but we got the best of everything, really), how most everywhere is just dirty (but the skyline is nice), and how when it's hot....and you're riding the subway or bus and someone sweaty and smelly is all up in yo' biznatch because there's no room for personal space.
Yeah, good times. Someone smelled like cheese on the train this morn. Straight up Parmesan reggiano. Very unappetizing. And potent. And I don't believe they smelled that way because they were carrying cheese...
It's hot today...but am trying not to complain because all I basically did this winter was complain to you all about how cold it was.
Anyway...I had more to write but I'll save that for another time...
Pic taken from Brooklyn Bridge last year. Can anyone name the noticeable landmark buildings from left to right?
Not shitty, well maybe the traffic is. Drove through the other day and was sooo sad not to stop. Love the processing here. Empire and Chrysler and the ones I know. Was this at our meet up?
@amandal traffic can definitely be shitty. And the smell too. Ick. But yes you got the buildings right. Missed the MetLife building which is hidden in there somewhere.
@mcmary hey, Mary! Hope you're keeping cool in this heat. I hear by Friday the temps will drop :)
@brianarmoured thanks, Brian! I posted this from my phone so I have no idea how this really looks on a larger screen.
Love the colouring here, with the gentle grading of the yellow. There's the big flat top of the MetLife building to the left of the Chrysler and the sloping roof of the CitiCorp tower to the right. The GE building is between the Empire and MetLife.
As much as it stinks I'd love to be back over there right now - I don't usually like big cities but New York was just amazing!
@mats365 gold star for you for naming the other buildings! Thanks, Mat. NYC is amazing, just sometimes too hot to bear in the summer. Hope you get around visiting again soon. When did you last visit?
@jbc2013 yes it's some serious odor! Lol. And I should correct the spelling for it up in my description. Parmigiano Reggiano is one of my fave cheeses but ... It's one thing when you walk by the cheese section at, let's say, Whole Foods. You expect that smell. It's quite another when a person smells like it. One a hot train with no ventilation. Makes me wanna ralph...
I'm cool! It's freezing here at the moment, but probably not that cold by your standards. I have only been to NYC once (and loved it), well worth the 13 hour flight then another 5 hour flight! I only recognise 3 buildings, but I can tell you the MetLife building used to be the Pan Am Airlines building :)
@fauxtography365 I may have to go to Kansas City for work later this year. If that trip comes off, definitely! Its one of my four favourite cities in the world (that I have been to, anyway)! :)
@timerskine lol @fauxtography365 LOL @ "sulfur dioxide filter". If there was one this would be it. Perfectly processed to evoke the feeling, T. Nailed it.
Great capture. Gorgeous sky! We were there in May, still not hot, but still kind of stinky. I think I'll stink to the quiet country. City life isn't for me.

@snaphappy1 thought you might like this, sistah!
We could use some cooler temps here but I'm not complaining...much lol. Our winter was horrible.
@timerskine Ah I did not know. Thanks for linking. Am flattered. That's pretty cool! :)
