@special4k Thanks so much Greg, I tried to take this yesterday but the shots were awful. They were a little better today but the breeze kept on blowing the dandelions about and I have a lot of blurry shots ...
@fbailey With a F/L of 270mm at f/5.6 you would indeed have had a rather shallow DoF: to get both in focus you would have need to have stopped down to f/16 and/or shortened the F/L, probably both... but I like it just fine like this this.
@vignouse Thank you both for your advice and patience! This is the start of my journey I'm afraid. I have just ventured out of Auto to AP and it's very hit and miss. So far I'm taking a pic in Auto and then trying to replicate the settings in AP. Guess some in depth reading is called for. Once more, thanks for your time. Felicity
Nice idea. I don't think the bluebells being out of focus is an issue in any way (there's no way you could have preserved the dandelion detail and the bluebells). This way we have the bluebell colour and the beautiful detail of the dandelion, personally I rate dandelions highly. (Useless information: dandelion from the French 'dent de lion', lion's teeth.)
@megpicatilly Thanks so much! @taffy Thanks for your comments - one day I might find out what I'm supposed to be doing! @royrj Thanks for your comments and the useful information, I think dandelion heads are extremely attractive and I'd already put up a bluebell shot I thought everyone would be fed up with another one!
