So, so sorry - too many uploads tonight, both here and on my 'Just stuff' album as I've been away and did too much to choose just one shot per day! I do hope it doesn't overload your home pages and apologise in advance. Am trying to catch up with your shots and will get to them all before Monday I swear! :)
Well... we got there so easily it was untrue. An hour from home was London, an hour from London was France, swiftly followed an hour later by central Paris. Eurostar is so easy and efficient I can't speak highly enough of it and travel has never been so easy.
We arrived, got the suitcase stuck on the metro barriers, dislodged by a kind Frenchman who then got stuck in same barriers, bit of a tug of war and he was free, and we scurried onto the hideous metro narrowly avoiding the pickpockets and off to our Hotel. Very nice if cosy!
Next day we set off to explore Paris and by the afternoon we had walked miles and found ourselves outside Notre Dame. What a beautiful, magnificent cathedral. Cathy said 'are we going to spend all day looking at old buildings built by old people hundreds of years ago?' but even she was impressed by the scale of this place. This is her and George in front of me, queuing for a little while to get in with everyone else. It was free to enter. Hear that, England... 'Free to Enter'!! The adventure continues.... https://365project.org/filsie65/365/2019-03-03
Came back to find my Forget me Not had made the Popular Page - gosh thank you so much for all your visits and comments, you're all merveilleux!! :)
@sabanford Morning Shirley! Yes, Eurostar is the train that goes from London (or Kent, near Dover) through the channel tunnel and into France from where it zooms off to Paris or Bruges or Amsterdam. From central London you get on as a foot passenger but I believe in Kent you can get on with your car or even coach! (George's school trip went through in their coach). The trip through the tunnel under the channel took about 20 minutes and it was so smooth it was amazing. The TGVs (trains de grands vitesses = trains of big speeds!) are phenomenal, pity we don't have them on provincial lines too! :)
Nice shot, and a great story. I agree, Eurostar is brilliant, and yes, my wife got her suitcase stuck in the metro barrier as well!! We had to recruit someone else with a ticket to help to free it!
@north_ender Oh dear - but I'm glad to think it's not just us who did it!! Your other shots of the views from the top of the Eiffel twr are wonderful - definitely the best views in Paris! Some views looking back on it on my other stuff album but got to go back for the tower views! :)
