After loving the inside of Notre Dame it was a challenge to go and explore a closer view of the outside of Notre Dame... both George and Cathy do bellringing so getting them up there was no problem - I am not fond of spiral stairs nor going upstairs so the several thousand steps up (ok I exaggerate but only a little) was more of a challenge for me. Still, it had to be done.
Up there the view of Paris stretched out before us - just amazing, all fairly level but with ornate towers and spires punctuating the bluey-grey roofline. We also got up close and personal to the statues, chimera and gargoyles. This chap seemed fiercely proud of his view and I could see why. It was a very grey day but a little cross-processing helped this shot to warm up a little. (The winds didn't help at all!) If you see the shot on my first album, this was taken from the top of the stone balcony above the rose window, between the two towers.
Then all we had to do was go down the thousand steps down again...!
In the evening we carried on exploring... (ooh our poor feet!) http://365project.org/filsie65/365/2012-04-11
awesome and a fave I bought a print of this guy (and several other gargoyles) and they hang on my wall and I see them daily, would be so thrilled to get a shot of them in person and like your lovely shot, not sure that my knees would like those stairs
