Of course we went to the Louvre, but just to walk through the beautiful courtyards of the once Palace. The queue was almost as bad as that at the Eiffel Tower and in all honesty my love for Monet and fond memories of this place brought me back.
The children had almost had enough of Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Rodin, Renoir et al when we came to the first beautiful station-clock-window. The Station (Gare) d'Orsay was such a lovely building they transformed it into a light and airy art gallery housing so many beauties a day wouldn't have been enough, and alas we only had a few hours to spare. We lunched behind the other clock where I had eaten 'with my husband on my birthday in a previous life' and it was a real joy to take the kids there and see them love it as much as I did. (Lunch was delicious too!) :)
Impossible to take a shot without several irritating people wanting to look through but you can just make out the Louvre and the Basilica of Sacre Coeur on the hill. The adventure continued into my 2nd album.....! https://365project.org/filsie65/365/2019-03-09
Terrific spectacle. In my view the louvre is a bit like a warehouse for the stolen treasures of the old empire. Loved Monet at L'Orangerie and his gardens at Giverny. Seems like you have had a wonderful trip
I love this photo too.. and reading the comments taught mesomething.. I have just given up to take so many photos because there were people around.. now I know.. tahe them in as silhouettes in the photo..=) that is one thing I learned from this shot..
