Doubtful Moments

Maybe not the most exciting picture, but it documents a moment in time. I think it’s that moment when you are reasonably sure that no seed will ever sprout and that no plant that did sprout will ever get any bigger. And the view certainly contrasts with the way the garden looked a week ago ( https://365project.org/francoise/365/2017-05-03 ), though the number of beds ready for planting or already planted is still only 4 ½, so the amount of preparatory work needed is still about the same. I thought about turning over another bed today – and did pull out the big weeds in the front bed – but the soil is just too wet after all the rain. So this is also the moment in time when you are reasonably sure that the job will never ever get done.
After clearing the major weeds from the areas, I did plant some sunflowers around the edges and along the fence outside the garden. I also stuck a couple seeds in the swan planter mentioned a couple days ago because Joe whacked the clover that was growing in it. Joe is responsible for the cleared look seen above. In fact, the entire yard is looking quite cleared since he spent the entire day weed whacking and mowing and picking up grass and then re-mowing with the newly-fixed mower. I mostly stayed inside doing laundry and trying to put the house together after the great painting episode. Liam and I finished painting the hall, though that was partly by decree since I decided that the hall didn’t need a second coat aside from the (seven) doors and a bit by the ceiling. Next project: the stairwell to the basement. No furniture to move, but the logistics of reaching the walls and ceiling seem completely overwhelming. I’m reasonably sure I can’t (reach), so I’m not sure whether to start the project. Will it look worse the way it is now or partly finished?
The best part of your post is you spelled "whacking" right. So many people spell it "wacking"

I love the new and improved garden. Joe did a magical job of improving it!

I hope you are feeling incredibly self righteous. Good to see your efforts. You will be going back to work for a rest
