(happy 59) Yes, a first batch of bricelets made. I've not made them for a couple years, but am planning on making them this year. That's my mother's grandmother's iron, though I understand that there are modern electric ones that are much easier with regards timing etc.
Partly for get-pushed challenge from Joyce "what Christmas means to you." In my childhood home, it always meant the tall yellow chair sitting in front of the stove where my mother sat for hours on end making people boxes of these cookies. Depending on their tastes, her friends either got sweet (pictured above) or salty. When young, I loved the sweet ones, but now I love the richer salty ones.
@thistle I can't tell if this is an easy challenge that you've given me or a hard one. It's easy in that so many things mean Christmas to me. But it would be really hard if I made myself choose the Meaning of Christmas to me. I'm going with the former, just trying to pick meaningful aspects of Christmas rather than one that sums it all up! But who knows, maybe I'll find that one meaning.
We had some friends a long time ago who made these. They were great dipping cookies! Dip in hot chocolate, dip in tea, (but not together of course), yum yum! A good collage for you Christmas challenge.
How wonderful to imagine the many generations that made and sent out this tasty-looking treat! To live in this lineage must be so meaningful! Beautiful and quite-wonderful photos!
