No, this is not a scene from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, but a sculpture by David Nash using recycled oak groynes from Eastbourne sea front, entitled 'Eighteen Thousand Tides' (1996). But I do wonder what they were talking about on a beautiful sunny afternoon in Gildredge Park.
