@boatpainter When I was a kid we used to call them cornflowers too then, when I got interested in gardening, I found out they are actually the flowers of the chicory plant. Not sure why they got the name corn flowers. I thought maybe because they grew in or around the fields of corn or at least they did when I used to see them as a kid.
