gutter spout_20:365

I experimented with different shutter speeds today and learned about the "motion blur" effect . . . read/watched several tutorials and took lots of photos, none of which I was very happy with . . . about 30 minutes ago a cold front came in with heavy rain . . . I glanced outside at the water pouring out of the gutter spout and immediately grabbed my camera and tripod.
How cool is this? A great way to learn. I must admit that being from drought-stricken Calif, I'm jealous!

@pcarlaw Being from Texas, I'm all too familiar with droughts. Today I definitely learned a lot about using different shutter speeds . . . spent some time experimenting with water drops, not too successful with those shots so I'll keep practicing . . . the rain arrived just when I needed it.

Ha, I thought the gutter was chocolate when I saw the photo. You are taking so much trouble to learn. Very impressed.

Very nice shot! I find it difficult to represent rain...this is a great way!

@woodlandsphotog Thank you! Felt quite lucky when it started raining and the shot just fell into place . . . I had been trying some water drop photos with not much success.
