While making spiced orange pomander balls today I decided to try some macro shots of the cloves . . . it was a fun activity all around and the wonderful scent is getting me in the Christmas spirit.
Wow! I love the look of the orange peel. But my thumbs hurt! I remember making these as a little girl. We put cloves all over them (think a solid ball of cloves) then rolled them in something that started with an a (alum or something like that) then put a ribbon on them and hung them inthe closet.
@pcarlaw I haven't made them in awhile. I used to make them with my students and yes, sore thumbs for sure. I didn't make any solid with cloves but I did make some with different designs.
