I continued experimenting with smoke photography today. I did a few things differently . . . I used three incense sticks instead of one and I moved the spotlight and speedlite both closer to the burning incense sticks. Most of the images today were much clearer and brighter.
@kategoring Thanks for your comment, Kate! Yes! I really like that shape on the right side . . . that's mainly why I chose this image for today's photo! :-)
Terrific Gayle! I am intrigued by your description of how you captured. If you do not mind me asking....What kind of spot are you using? And is the speed light off camera? And lastly...how are you getting those great black backgrounds?
@milaniet Thank you, Milanie! I have been inspired by some of the smoke photos I've seen in this project so I was anxious to give it a try and WOW! I really like those wispy images. I'll shoot more smoke photos in the future for sure! :-)
@woodlandsphotog Thanks, Richard! Of course I don't mind you asking . . . yes, the speedlite is off camera wirelessly triggered . . . I used one of those circular black reflectors for the black background . . . my husband gave me a 5 in 1 set with a stand for my birthday in December and also in the set were spotlights . . . I used the tabletop spotlight for these smoke shots so I could move it around easily. :-)
@sarahscarlett Thank you, Sarah! I was inspired by smoke photos I've seen in this project and I'm so glad I tried it for myself. Give it a go . . . I'll bet you'll be amazed at the images you create. :-)
