Bad Funky Bones . . . the drummer! It was a beautiful day to be out and about in San Antonio! I drove downtown to a popular farmers' market and dining area to take photos. This band was playing a wide variety of songs and after I danced a bit with the kids I found myself taking pictures of the drummer from all different angles. I am finding that I when I am out taking photos like this I can shoot lots and lots of different subjects and not feel much about them and then suddenly I see something that gives me that, "Wow!" feeling inside. And then I can't stop! That's what happened with this drummer and his drums. Was it the music? Was it the sunny day and everyone feeling upbeat and positive? I'm not sure, but I really enjoyed the experience of taking photos of this drummer and there was no doubt in my mind as I was driving home what my project photo would be today!
Once we get used to the idea that we are in public taking pictures we can really forget to be self-conscious and have fun. Glad you had a good time and took such a great shot.
@tunia Thanks so much, Tunia! I'm finding when I'm out in public taking photos I lose all my inhibitions . . . almost as if having that camera strap around my neck or the camera on the tripod gives me a license to shoot anywhere and anything. :-)
I really like your pov and comp and the sunshine in this shot--you captured the happy energy of the scene very well. I like the way you used the edge of the umbrella s a framing device.
A year ago today my daughter and I were in San Antonio - fascinating city, and one of the few American cities we visited with a real, people focused heart. We walked all round the river and enjoyed it so much. San Antonio is a city we don't hear much about in NZ, but a city with so much to offer. Great shot
@maureenpp I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit to San Antonio. It's nice to know that someone who lives so far away enjoyed my hometown. Thank you so much for your comment!
@tunia I fully agree with Tunia, and I see you concur! This is the up-side of mob mentality, I suppose... I find I just don't want to make eye contact with anyone as I go about my business! I'm delighted for you you had such a good time and have a wonderful memory photo from the happy event!
