Boardwalk with one hotel . . . that will be $2000 rent, please. Does anyone else still enjoy playing this game? I was truly hesitant to post this photo but decided to go for it and ask for any and all constructive criticism. I like a shallow depth of field but I sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable with the blurry aspects in a shot like this. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
I'm seeing a lot more createve use of a shallow depth of field here on 365, than I have noticed before. I like it. My guess is that if the house had come up just a tiny bit sharper, then you wouldn't have felt at all uncomfortable. But I'm no expert or critic - I think you take wonderful shots - all the time.
I agree with the comment from Helen Hall. Try it with a different game object to focus on. I grew up playing this game for hours but I haven't played in years.
@helenhall Thank you so much for your comment and suggestion, Helen! I think you may be right . . . a bit more of the house in focus would have made a difference for me in how I felt about the image. :-)
It hasn't been that long ago that I played this game (and I'm 77) - still a big game fan. Like the shallow dof - works well with the game - and all the color.
@kategoring Thanks so much, Kate! Yes, I've seen quite a few different versions for different locations, television shows and sports teams. All fun! :-)
I love the shallow DOF and think it's a very worthy shot. We too have Monopoly from various cities ... London, Paris and Singapore! Our kids used to love to play, but always lost to daddy! He would never 'let' anyone win, and has such a killer streak in this game! Me, I never win!!! Since our son Alexander succeeded finally in beating his father last year though he is less desperate to play against him! He has proved his point - at age 20! ;-) It is a great game though - we've spent many Christmas holiday hours playing it, and so doubt still will.
Great idea, I agree with Helen about the house. We discussing Monopoly recently, trying to decide if our grandies are old enough to teach them how to play.
I liked this image right away! Such an iconic game, instantly recognizable by all. And I love the motel on Boardwalk! The focus works well, I think. FAV
