I don't think this female cardinal was thrilled to be sharing the feeder with these sparrows . . . I have noticed the females usually don't stay long if other birds approach a feeder.
@merrelyn Thank you for your comment, Merrelyn! Yes, these sparrows are quite a bit smaller than the cardinals. Sometimes there will be about ten of them on one of these tray feeders. :-)
it is an awesome beak. This photo makes me realise that the cardinal must be quite a lot larger than I had thought. You have given them all such a colourful array of tasty treats.
