Just Passing Through by gaylewood

Just Passing Through

The deer were just passing through and nibbling away at the bird and squirrel feeders. Usually they wait until after dark to eat any of the leftovers but today they came around early. I couldn't believe they stayed long enough for me to get several shots.
This deer must be extra curious to hang around! They do like corn so if there is cracked corn in your feeder it is a treat for them!

@woodlandsphotog Thanks so much, Richard! As you can imagine, I was clicking as fast as I could before they took off. Usually the sound of the door opening scares them off but luckily for me, today they were concentrating on eating and I was able to very carefully make it outside to get some shots. They come every evening to finish off any scraps from the feeders but it's either too dark or they take off before I can get any shots. :-)

I can imagine your delight! Yea!

@Weezilou Yes, I was definitely delighted! What's really funny is that I was working on one of those floating banana shots and in the same instant that I decided today wasn't the day for a successful floating banana trick shot, I glanced outside and there were the deer nibbling away at the feeders. :-)

Yes, I can imagine your shutter was flying! It is great you were able to get so many photos. I can see you were really close you are based on your EXIF data. We have a lot of deer around us here in The Woodlands. A couple of times in the Fall I surprised some when I was walking behind our house. They are early in my project.

So well camouflaged in amongst the trees. The definitely didn't feel threatened at all.

@365projectorgjenfurj Thank you for your comment, Jen! I was trying to remain motionless and still get some shots . . . they are quite skittish and easily scared away.

Beautiful capture of this lovely deer; I like the framing by the tree branch.
