I went walking downtown today hoping to get some street shots. While I was on the riverwalk I spotted these two birds building a nest. The one on the left would fly away, then return with a stick and give it to the other bird, beak to beak. In no time at all they had quite a group of people watching their nest-building activity and taking photos. No one there could identify the birds so I had to look them up . . . Yellow-crowned Night-Herons! Not exactly the street shot I had in mind for today but they were definitely my favorite subjects for the day.
It is great when this project gets us looking things up and extending each other's knowledge. Must have been a fascinating watch. You got a good capture of them both with their nest.
@woodlandsphotog Thanks so much, Richard! I appreciate your comment and fav! This was a new bird for me. :-)
There will be some Fiesta activities going on Friday and Saturday, will your wife and daughter be attending any of those events? Most of the Fiesta events are next week, culminating with the day parade on Friday and night parade on Saturday. :-)
@gaylewood The timing with Fiesta was just by chance. Tomorrow is the end of one of medical school course module so it was a great time for my wife to visit. Since Fiesta will be going on they do intend on doing some exploring at some of the activities.
And if you are on the Riverwalk Friday or Saturday you might pass my wife and daughter! :)
