Ladder-backed Woodpecker by gaylewood

Ladder-backed Woodpecker

This is a new bird for me . . . the black-and-white-barred back and the black-striped face distinguish the ladder-backed woodpecker from others in similar habitats. The male has a red crown and the female's crown is black.
wonderfull photograph; you are very fortunte to live where you do for subjects such as these.

That ladder works well as disguise. Lovely bird.

Love seeing birds that aren't common in my area - and woodpeckers are always fun.
