Yesterday, after I took the Valentine's Day wedding shots in front of the courthouse, I noticed this scene taking place across the street so I walked over to see what was going on. Two bike patrol officers had handcuffed this guy . . . one of the officers had moved their bikes over to the curb and was waiting for a patrol car. The other policeman stayed with the handcuffed guy and was looking through his wallet and backpack. Fortunately, the encounter remained peaceful . . . the handcuffed guy was taken away in a patrol car and the two officers continued patrolling the area on their bikes. Peaceful or not, it's all in a day's work for these officers.
Is it usual to Handcuff? We'd seldom do it over here in the UK.. Think your police are a lot tuffer than ours, but then you have a lot more guns available which I guess they have to be mindful of.
@cottiac I'm not sure what the procedures are for whether to use handcuffs or not. This guy did not appear confrontational at all so you wouldn't think handcuffs would be necessary . . . but then again, I don't know the background info regarding his arrest.
