The bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. The shape of the petals on the flower resembles the bonnet worn by pioneer women to shield them from the sun. They are just starting to bloom and soon yards, fields, and highways will be covered with bluebonnets. They traditionally serve as a popular backdrop for family photographs.
@louannwarren Lou Ann, I thought about you and Henri when I was shooting these bluebonnets this morning. They're just now starting to show up around here . . . I'm looking forward to getting some shots of large fields covered in blue in the upcoming weeks. :-)
What an amazing backdrop they would make!!! I took a quick breath as your photo op-ened and knew I was in Texas! (Thank you Ladybird!) I've never before noticed they were a type of lupin, but your tag certified that I was correct! These are just delicious! LOVELY!
