. . . also known as Texas Juniper Hairstreak or Olive Juniper Hairstreak. It took me a while but I finally identified this small butterfly as the Juniper Hairstreak. The wing span is 1 - 1 1/4 inches (2.6 - 3.2 cm). A tiny but nice looking butterfly. It is amazing what you can capture with a macro lens.
Wow! What details you've captured! Interesting color combination on this little butterfly; his wing extensions are an added attraction. (I'm sure they have scientific names but I'm clueless about those.)
