Although the northern mockingbird is the state bird of Texas and can be spotted all around the state, I rarely see them in my yard and I've never been able to get a photo of one . . . until today. I was extremely surprised when this one unexpectedly flew across the yard and landed on a century plant. I was sitting nearby getting shots of other birds and squirrels so I slowly turned in his direction and was able to get three shots before he flew off. I am quite happy to finish up the month of January with a totally unexpected mockingbird photo. :-)
