Truth is, that this Mr. Bumble was not at all alone, for on this morning, (October 18) there were scads of them on my still-blooming Dahlias. What I wondered, as I watched them compete for the heavy pollen, was why they were only attracted to the white flowers?
Greetings! I'm from Connecticut (USA) Photography is one of my lifelong passions (others including gardening, woodworking, history, and being a part...
@samdan Hello, and thanks for stopping by. No, that is not dew on the petals Lesley; the petals on this variety of Dahlia have a bit of a sheen to them, but it is most noticeable on the white ones. Be well, Les

I'm hoping that you'll understand that I'll be posting from "the archives" for a bit. I have soooo much that I am pretty excited about and never got to post, what with my hand surgery and all. (I lost a whole month of posting!) And although my hand and thumb are coming along, I'm experiencing what's called "peak reaction", which means everything hurts big time! (I know, wah, wah!) It'll be another 3-4 months before it settles. It also means that most days I'd rather swallow a doorknob than trapse around with my camera. LOL! So I'll be around, and your wonderful photographs are something to look forward to. Thanks all, and be very well, Les xx
this is a wonderful shot, so worth sharing, as far as I am concerned it is your project and you can post whatever you want, taken whenever you want. I hope the pain in your hand passes soon, because I'd not be keen to swallow a door knob! Feel better soon!
@lbmcshutter Hello Megan, and thanks for your lovely comment, and support, and well wishes. It seems I'm in for the "long haul" - 4 months of physical therapy, and THEN I can start using it more and more. But that'll work our great!..........just in time for Garden season :-D Be very well, Les
