This photo represents "antiquity" as something other than objects that preserve our past. It is something we have DONE since the earliest of times. Long before ancient times, we have gathered together in meaningful ways; that's what this photo is about. This was taken in the lovely, charming (and very small) Latvian Lutheran Church of which I am the caretaker. It was built in 1880 by Swedish craftsmen, whose skill, and finesse, and grace in working with wood in evident throughout. I have been wanting to take this picture for years, and the theme motivated me to finally try it. (As an Irish woman, I am I bit of "novelty" among the elderly Latvian community that has so warmly taken me in. :-D)
