Eyes on the Prize by glimpses

Eyes on the Prize

I got a touch of frostbite when I captured this Red Tailed Hawk. The wind chill was -15 w/ 10" of snow and drifts up to my hip. I dashed outside w/o mittens, scarf, or boots, and didn't even zip up my coat. It took 30 min. to slowly approach him, wade through the snow, and find an angle where he wasn't obscured by branches. My hands were so numb that I couldn't feel the shutter button! I love this because sometimes it's all about the capture, and I got it!

Very nice capture, and I can appreciate the adversity you experienced. I experienced the same two days ago; yesterday started out cold but was ‘only’ just below zero C by the early afternoon.

Wonderful close up. I’m always working on my “quiet approach” skills...even harder in bad weather!

@pyrrhula Thank you for viewing. I believe he as his eye on a bird at my neighbor's bird feeder. He is beautiful and exciting. Keep well, Les
