@mjmaven Thanks Shirley, and guess what?? In NYC during the 9/11
catastrophe, cell phone service service was out in much of the city, also land-lines. In addition, the Internet service was also interrupted, with networks down, and communication protocols went awry. Some of NYC's 15,000 call boxes were invaluable in directing fire fighters just where to go. Even when electricity and phones are out, these things can still call emergency services because they run on a different power source. They may be around for awhile yet! Take care, Les x
@mwarren365 Thank you Mike for stopping and commenting. I took lots of "preservation" shots of this; every conceivable kind of distance angle, and detail, in color, B&W, and sepia. I heard "tell" that there may be roadwork (wideneing the street) before winter. I'll be giving Take care, Les
@bkbinthecity Thank you Bob (is it??) You bet I do! I have scores of photos of every conceivable angle, size, perspective, distance, and various details. All taken in color, B&W, and sepia. I heard that they might be widening the road, which would mean this handsome relic would be taken down (and hopefully placed somewhere appropriate for its historic signicance.) I'll be posting others soon. (I still have a detail of the beautiful church pews for you; i haven't forgotten. :D) Take good care, Les
