It isn't often I get a morning golden hour shot and the color was really beautiful for this one but when I started playing around with editing I really liked this better than the color which can be seen here http://365project.org/grammyn/everything-else/2016-06-21
Check my skills album for the shot you suggested dad♥
I see what you mean the colour photo has such a gorgeous glow to that yellow in the light, it's great, this one is taking excellent advantage of the light as well, and everything is so much more cohesive.
I like the shot better in black & white, but I love the way the golden hour gives his face an almost-saintly glow. He has a very contented look for a person doing a job lots of us hate.
Definitely better in black and white. This treatment seems to fit the subject more to me (street cleaner not skin-tone!). I think you could play up the contrast a little more to make the shadow stand out even better. Good catch!
@sarasotab@eudora@summerfield@olivetreeann thank you so much for your comments and suggestions. I agree Diane. I tried it Ann and the shadow was much better but I lost his face and for me that detail was more important than the shadow.
@grammyn In my program I can determine different areas to be unaffected by whatever treatment you're applying to the photo. I'm not sure what you're using- but if it's Picmonkey, there is usually a little paint brush which does the same thing.
@olivetreeann No paint brush for contrast in Pickmonkey and any other program now would cause me to lose my lovely comments. I will definitely keep it in mind for next time and explore a bit more. This was done with a preset in NIK. Thanks for the great advice
