A candle holder my parents, and possibly grandparents, used to celebrate 50 years of marriage that my husband and I also used. Below that you see just the top of a brass teapot my husband brought back from Korea and all the children blow into the spout to make that lid rattle. They will fight over that when I die
How special! Who knows, maybe they'll fight over the candle holder instead. 😂 Ask them ahead of time what they especially would like to inherit. My folks did, and incredibly there were only about two or three items more than one of us four wanted--and we all said: But if someone wants it more, that's ok. -- They may surprise you. You all will have the memories of them blowing into it.
What a symbolic family heirloom. And congratulations on achieving that. I've been married for over 50 years - but it took the good Lord to bring Tom into my life. We will celebrate 42 years this year.
I would love to have children/grandchildren "fighting" over some of my family treasures when I die, but I had two sons...I don't think that's going to happen! Nice treasures.
@summerfield if it was my grandparent'st first it is only 58 years old. They would have bought it around 1965 for their 50th @johnfalconer thanks John was it family or friends? @granagringa thank yo Madeline it has been almost 6 years ago @eudora for me the candle holder holds more memories right now and thank you @shutterbug49 thank you Debbie for both comments @kjarn it does make it more special @Dawn thank you Dawn I think so too @ludwigsdiana We are actually several years past it Diana and thank you so much @briaan it was a few years ago Brian but thanks @joansmor thanks bunches Joan @corinnec I appreciate that Corinne thank you @wakelys thank you Sue. I imagine it will be more of a verbal argument than a true fight @mcsiegle probably not. That is the problem they all would like it for the memories it holds and unless I specify joint custody someone is going to feel hurt. @cdonohoue thank you Cathy Congratulations on so many years with your keeper! @olivetreeann oddly enough my only son is one of the ones who really wants this. Thanks Ann
@grammyn I didn't realize you have a son as well as all those lovely daughters- but then you do have a large family!! How precious that he treasures it. I have no idea if my sons would want anything of mine! lol
@olivetreeann he was three when his dad brought it back from Korea and he’s almost 55 now and he still fights his sister to be the first to blow in it when they get here!
@marilyn thank you so much for that. The composition was just point-and-shoot because that’s how it’s sitting. Thanks for the confirmation. Jolene also told me. I’m not sure why I don’t remember it.
