This photo is of the San Miguel Mission in Socorro, New Mexico. It was fitting to visit here on Good Friday. The Mission was built in 1626 and destroyed in 1680 in the Pueblo Revolt. It was later rebuilt. We took a quick trip here to visit my youngest son who just started a job here at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology as their polar engineer. We are missing another snow storm in Colorado Springs (yeah) and enjoying 70 deg weather here. I waved to you, Jane @cejaanderson , as we drove through Albuquerque. We spent the day hiking and exploring and I have tons of photos I would love to share! Thanks so much for viewing!
Beautiful photo of this lovely church! This is the son who works with drones, is it not? I am in Las Cruces because my mother is dying and I want to be with her when she goes. Because your son is in Socorro, you will be down here more, and we should get together for a photo outing sometime. For example, I am interesting in the Monticello Box, if we can get a permit.
@cejaanderson I would love to get together sometime when we visit for a photo outing (or it you come up our way too)! This is my son who works with drones. I wasn't familiar with the Monticello Box so Googled it. It is beautiful and sounds so interesting! I would love to see it. Is it Federal Land but the state has closed it off? I couldn't tell for sure. I am so sorry about your Mom, but I am glad that you can be with her. I will keep your whole family in my prayers!
@harbie I love that old mission, and have oodles of photos of it too. Glad to know you will be in "my neck of the woods" now and then, with your son working at Mines (isn't that campus a breath of fresh air?!). Let me know when you and @cejaanderson plan a Monticello Box trip--I'd love to join you if it's feasible.
Mines is very pretty! I am enjoying all of the flowers! It would be fun if we could all explore Monticello Box! I will definitely let you know if we can make it happen! :)
