My Orthopedic Dr. and I were looking at my x-rays at my appointment last week. There were 3 different views, but I liked the side view. The really white areas are the hardware (metal and plastic parts of the joint) that replaced my bone and cartilage, and the small bone in front is my kneecap. They slice part of it off and attach a plastic piece. I was bone on bone medially so now I have a good joint space again. I am doing really well with no pain. I am sad I can no longer run with the knee replacement. but it had gotten too painful to run anyway. I thought it was funny he had this skeleton in front of his computer. Thank you for viewing!
@777margo I was hoping to hold out for the development of the bionic knee so I could run really fast, but I couldn't wait any longer. Thank you, Margo!
Oh, this looks so familiar....... Good for you that you are doing so well. You'll love that new knee. I've got pictures just about like this.... I'm now up to five total joint replacements.... and I'm hoping that is all there's going to be..... both hips, both knees, and one shoulder. Like new except that I am "half titanium"!
@harbie Oh boy! Every bell and whistle and alarm goes off for me when we go through security at the airport. I have been wanded, taken into another room and had to show scars ...... I've kidded that my husband could be through security, on the plane, and already asleep before I get through security. As far as I'm concerned the best thing going at airport security now is the machine you stand in, and they "xray" you...... Saves all kinds of trouble for me. I had my shoulder replacement just last July, and it was the hardest to get over....... took lots longer to get back to "normal" than the hips or knees. Doing great now. My only problem since having both knees done is that I do not like to have to get on my knees. I keep feeling the prosthesis.
@aglennc I'm a PT and they say the hardest replacement is the shoulder, then knee, then hip. The alignment of the knee is harder than the hip. Sounds like you are doing really well which is great!! So glad!
@harbie They got it right.... The shoulder has been the most difficult for me. Great that you are in PT..... I had absolutely no pain after surgery for hips and knees. Shoulder -- yes. Glad I had pain killers for "heavy pain" and "light to moderate". Used some of both for quite awhile.
Interesting photo, thanks for sharing.
