Anne and I biked about 35 HARD km on back roads this day (FYI a back road in romania is not the same as a back road in germany or the netherlands!). We biked from Sighiasoara to Beirtan, Romania.
Although it was a hard day in the saddle the countryside was beautiful, and there were many great photo ops. This was the first time I saw anyone using a horse plow (there were many more afterwards). So I rode my bikeup into the field a bit and got some great shots of this husband and wife plowing their field. I also really loved the traditional hay stack in front of the horse too. This shot also looked great in color but I went B&W because I feel like it fit the subject a bit better.
Many years ago, during my undergrad days, I happened upon a man plowing his fields "the old-fashioned way". A Step Back in Time is exactly how I felt and I must have stayed there and watched for at least 15 minutes! Yes- the b&w just adds to the feeling. Beautiful shot.
