Kindergarten Success Night by hbdaly

Kindergarten Success Night

Last night the families of all the Kindergartners were invited to the school to see all the things the children had achieved over the year. Michael gave us a tour of his classroom and showed off all his considerable new skills. Here he is reading to us from his poetry binder. It is always great to see kids realizing how much fun learning can be. Michael is very proud of himself and we are extremely proud of him. On to first grade!!
Good for you, Michael!!!
A poetry binder, sounds like something I could introduce next year. What exactly is it?

@fotofem Ok, I think I have a handle on it now! It seems to be a binder full of already written poems (like Roses are Red..." and such. And the class reads them and the kids then draw a picture to go along with it. As they get older and a little more literate, they write their own poems in that style. (This was how it was explained to me by my 7 year old - so I have no idea if that is really how it works! ;) Does that help?

@hbdaly Sounds pretty cool, I think I´m going to try that after the summer - I´ll be teaching three agegroups at the same time (6,7 and 8 year olds!), so any fun activities are very welcome!
