While I was having my breakfast this morning, a commotion outside my Dirty Kitchen Window made me look up just in time to see the flurry of wings - giant spotted hawk's wings - about a foot from the window. There has been what we think is a Cooper's Hawk patrolling the yard since the summer. The bird was gone before I could get a good look but I have to assume the the hawk decided his breakfast was going to be one of the visitors to my feeders. I have no idea if he got anything (I'm pretending in my mind that he didn't...;) but I was happy to see it didn't keep the Sparrows away for too long. Although they did seem to arrive in larger, warier groups, I noticed.... :-)
