We get a lot of woodpeckers at our feeders - but they do not generally seem very social. They do their own thing and do not seem to want to share space with other birds that might show up - no matter the species. So this morning, when I saw these two male Downy Woodpeckers land on the feeder at the same time, I was a little surprised... So were they, I think! This picture was taken in the literal nanosecond before the two of them realized that they didn’t want the other one there! Glad I caught it. It sure didn’t last long....
