He was good enough to stay still where I spotted him on the wall by the pavement as I was walking along. Considering this was hand held at 1/15th second, I didn't think it was too bad but doesn't match the clarity of most of the lovely macro shots you guys are creating. On the plus side, I am beginning to look at the file information on my shots to try and be a bit more intentional about the settings I choose on the camera.
Thank you friends for looking by and taking an interest, despite the experimental nature of many of my posts.
I think this is very good, particularly when one knows that it was hand-held for 1/15th of a second. I like the comp and dof and the focus on/light in the bird's eye. I don't know if you do any post processing, Helen. A bit more contrast in this shot here would have been nice, I think,
@tristansmum thanks for the tips. I love to get the feedback. I do some processing - pretty trial and error. I just checked - using the curves feature and switching to medium contrast, there is an improvement which is small, but significant. Thank you!
@rosiekind thank you Rosie. I'm checking the settings and realising why I'm not always getting a crisp image! 1/30 is really the slowest to go without tripod I think. Anyway, blackbirds are such elegant birds I couldn't resist a snap at this one.
This looks great on black! Love the details in those feathers and very nice dof! Your comment on the experimental nature of many of your posts brought a smile to my face because ALL my posts are experimental. I just keep reminding myself that I'm learning more and more every day and that's the important thing. Oh, and REALLY enjoying myself in the process of learning. :-)
