in the wings of the butterfly sits the swan

Does anyone else have the same dilemmas as me? I am trying hard to post a photo from the same day - and usually I can, but I am leaving behind some captures that I prefer because some days are so much more productive photographically than others. And I struggle to know which capture to choose as there are so many different subjects - each with their own attractions and distractions. Ho, hum.

Today I have chosen this river scene because I really like the way the butterfly wing of the bridge has been distorted in the reflection. But I am not entirely happy with the overall composition which I don't seem to be able to improve with cropping.

Sometimes it all just feels pretty random. Anyway, enough ranting. Hope you all had inspiring days.
Great picture! I love the swirls in the water. The reflection of the tree is beautiful. ......and yes I have the same problem. I have to admit, I took tomorrow's picture today! A moment of opportunity arose so I had to get the picture, so I have to cheat and put it on tomorrow. I guess we all do it every now and then!

Nice shot. Love the swirly reflections on the water. In my first year on 365 I posted a photo taken more or less on the same day, but since then I decided that it was my project and my rules and now I just post photos I want to post regardless of when they were taken. I find that most people who have been on here for a while do that too. It is supposed to be pleasurable in my opinion, so stressing about it doesn't do much good. Just enjoy taking photos and posting with your rules. It doesn't matter when the photo was taken it is the sharing and enjoying which is fun. @janemartin There is no cheating Jane, just enjoy.

Wonderful reflections and movement in the water. Great shot Helen. I struggle too, each day. The most important thing to remember is that this your project and your rules. If you would be happier in the long run to use a photo you prefer even though it's not taken on a certain day, go for it. At the end of 365 days, all that really matters is that you did it the way you wanted to.

@onewing Thank you! That makes me feel better! I am certainly enjoying, I love it on here....Such lovely people.

@kategoring @onewing thank you both. Perhaps I just can't decide which way I want to do it! it was pointed out to me recently that on the blank days we are often forced into being our most creative and stretch ourselves outside of the comfort zone. With which I agree - although there are blank days that bring inspiration, and those that don't . And there are days when, for all the will in the world, there just isn't time. Thank you both for your comments.

@janemartin thanks jane. it is strange that I have no problems about anyone elses rules - just my own - but as @onewing says, there is no cheating.

@helenhall For what it's worth, my goal is a pic a day for 365 days. And darn it all, I am determined to do it! And yes, it can be brutal on those blank days, but to me that's part of the process.

Very peaceful scene! I often feel the same way. I have changed the way I post my photos to help. My main album photo is always taken the previous day. It gives me extra time to choose and process on heavy shooting days (such as any day we take a ride). My two extra albums can hold anything I choose. When it comes down to it, do what works for you and keeps you interested. :-)

Terrific image! I love the quirky reflections! Your title is wonderful! Fav! I agree with the previous comments about the importance of enjoying the project and not stressing out. I was quite stringent at first about only posting a photo I took that day but in February I experienced a couple of days with situations beyond my control and I had to post photos taken on previous days. Since then, I have relaxed my self-imposed project rules. As mentioned above, I try to remember that this is my project, my rules, and I have to do what works best for me. :-)

Beautiful ... looks so peaceful!

@kategoring @noko411 I re-read the introduction to this site page and why it was set up which has rather encouraged me to err on the diary side of the project rather than saving photos for a show case. We will see what happens! Thanks for your helpful comments.

@gaylewood thank you Gayle. I'm learning so much about how the state of the light - time of day and weather - can determine the images to look for. This particular bridge often has excellent reflections to offer. Thanks for your comments about the project - always helpful to know how others approach it.

@maskerade @paulavdmerwe thank you both - appreciated.

This is a beautiful shot and clever title to go along... I think others here had wonderful insight as to how to deal with the ubiquitous dilemma people have on this great site! I whole-heartedly agree with Kate, it's your project and your rules... My entire first year was dedicated to a shot a day no matter what. Now I am more relaxed and post fillers without worrying about it...

has noone mentioned that if you pay subscription for ace membership, you can have three folders = three per day if you wish

Well spotted Helen. The reflections are fantastic and the swan really sets it off.

@kerosene thank you for dropping by here and for your comments. Always good to know about other people's approach. Glad you liked the shot too. Yours is a most creative and story telling project.

@kali66 thank you Kali for your comments and follow. Of course you are right, the answer is ace membership. One thing that puts me off is the thought of being ill disciplined and loading too many photos that people will get fed up of following. So for now, I will stick with the good discipline of making decisions but I will certainly think about ace membership in the future.
